Who are you and where are you going?

The old addage: “If you don’t know where you’re going, any road will get you there,” is a relevant description for today’s spiritual climate.

Many believers are content to “go with the flow,” whatever that flow might be. There seems to be a passivity and willingness to just exist, to just get by. We believe there are many reasons for this. A few may be busyness, distraction, depression, and others. All of these and more might make up the varying conditions that Jesus called “Being blind and /or being asleep.”

To be asleep or spiritually blind means being unaware and unable to see and understand the Lord’s presence in the earth.

When we are blind or unaware and have no understanding we become lost. Our sense of direction and purpose fades and we become adrift in the sea of life with no rudder, no power to move and no map to show us where to go. This is a dangerous place to be in any dispensation let alone during a time when the Lord is visiting His people and moving in powerful ways!

This was not dissimilar to the time when the Lord was born. Many in His day did not see or recognize Him. Familiarity and hardness of heart blinded them from understanding and engaging in that visitation of the Lord. The bodily presence of God was among men and the majority were clueless.

We believe we are nearing the time of His return in this hour we live in. Amazingly we also see similar conditions to the Lord’s first coming. Many today do not have understanding of the times and seasons of the Lord and are blind to events and signs and the walk that the Lord gave us. These times and seasons reveal what He will do and how we should be living in this hour. In His first coming, most didn’t recognize who He was and couldn’t see or hear and therefore missed His purpose for them.

Believers think that wouldn’t happen with them today because they have an understanding of who He is. But knowing who He is is only part of the equation. If we fail to realize His timing and seasons we can be caught unprepared and still miss His visitation and purposes.

Jesus himself gave these warnings in His parables.

Matt 25:6 “And at midnight a cry was heard: ‘Behold, the bridegroom is coming, go out to meet Him!’ 7 Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps. 8 And the foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’ 9 But the wise answered, saying, ‘No, lest there should not be enough for us and you; but go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.’10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding; and the door was shut. 11 “Afterward the other virgins came also, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open to us!’ 12 But he answered and said, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, I do not know you.’ 13 “Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour the Son of man is coming.

Isaiah 56 reads

His watchmen are blind, they are all ignorant; they are all mute dogs, they cannot bark; sleeping, lying down, loving to slumber.

The Lord intends for His people to be aware and awake. He intends for His people to understand who He is, what He is doing, where He is doing it and when He is doing it and what our part is in it. When we are awake we will be who He called us to be, His pure and spotless and ready bride.
